The theme of my final sound composition is drastically different from what I had originally planned to create. At first I wanted to make a sound that would depict my inner child, but after listening to all of the sounds in the sound folder, I picked out a few sounds that together would paint the picture of “The Last Human on Earth.” My sound composition quickly took on an apocalyptic theme. I was very inspired by the bird sound I included in my composition, and I opted to make the birds sound creepy and alarming, and repeat the sound throughout the piece. I wanted to make the overall composition volume very loud that way it could intentionally alarm listeners and make them scared in a way. When I was creating the piece, I imagined one human left on earth after the apocalypse and they are wandering around nature looking to see if anyone else is alive. The sounds that I picked were mostly all sounds from nature to set up the outdoor, barren apocalyptic scene. It probably feels like the end of the world to the last human in the sound, and I hope that listeners can feel that person’s devastation and fear. The clock ticking throughout the piece is meant to symbolize the fact that time is up for the world and for the last human. The overall mood of the piece is very eerie and I intended listeners to feel almost abandoned in a way and confused. I had so much fun creating this, and I never imagined my composition would sound the way it does, but I love it.
